What can man do to me?

Happy Easter my friends!!! Today is the day we pause to celebrate our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and the debt that He paid for our sins through His life, love, death and resurrection.
As we find ourselves in the midst of what have been noted as the most unprecedented circumstances in our lifetime, it is easy to focus on the negative. Don't get me wrong, circumstances make it easy to be distracted from what is worthy of focus. It is easy to get caught up in the news and reporting that feed fears and worries. The reality of uncertainty and loss of income and freedom lend credence to our concerns.
However, we must be intentional and remind ourselves that we are called to "Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise." Phil 4:8 (NLT)
On this day, I challenge you to step away from the uncertainty that surrounds us and allow yourself to rest in the certainty of Christ. The unchanging and never wavering character of He who saves us from eternal damnation is definitely true and honorable and right and pure and lovely and admirable and excellent and worthy of praise.
I was reminded the other day of the Lord's unchanging character as I was outside doing chores around our property. I noticed that as the weather finally begins to warm the trees are preparing with buds for the presentation of all their glory when they are in full bloom. This simple observation brought me comfort as I realized that God's creation remains unchanged by the circumstances that we find ourselves surrounded by. The birds continue to arrive from their winter homes. The trees continue to prepare. The grass begins to brighten. My flower beds show new life.
Hebrews 13:5-6 reminds us to ". . . be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you. So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?" (NIV)
God is not phased by the things that are causing disorder in our communities. No decisions by politicians or employers or friends or family will change what He has for our lives. We can rest confidently knowing the answer to the question posed in Hebrews, "What can man do to me?". Jesus is the answer. He is the answer to that question and every other question or concern we have in life. He will continue to be the loving and good God that we know Him to be. Let us hold tightly to this truth today and into the uncertain and unforeseeable future of these circumstances. Moreover, let us remember that no matter what the circumstances look like or how long they go on, we can be confident in Christ.
Have a blessed Easter!

I have taken notice of the unchanging ways of God and His creation just as you mention. I love Springtime and this is one of the reasons I do. It never fails to arrive. New life comes, with a lot of green and many other colors which pop up through this season and into the summer. My spiritual mentor, Noni, when she would share her testimony of coming to know Christ would say, "When Christ opened my eyes I saw colors brighter and more pronounced than before." It's also been interesting reading some of my Facebook memories from two years ago when I was literally stuck at home with two herniated discs in my back. Just before I c…
